Yoyakim Figueras

Israel

I am Yoyakim Figueras.

I live in Israel, in the southern city of Arad, which is in the desert, not too far from the Dead Sea. I have 6 children between the ages of 12 and 26.

The Lord brought me to serve Him in different ways in my area. On the one hand, I work with African refugee children (Sudanese). On the other – reaching out to the Muslim Bedouin population. They used to be nomadic up to a few decades ago.

Most of what I do is through “Barnaba – Israel”. It’s an NGO which I helped establish in the early 2000s. With me there’s a whole team of volunteers and workers – each using his or her own giftings.

It is a joy for me to be a tool in the Lord’s hands – to bring the love of Christ to these very different peoples.

I pray that I might be the face of Jesus to all whom I serve.

“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty and a fearsome, who regardeth not persons nor taketh reward. He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger in giving him food and raiment. Love ye therefore the stranger, for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; Him shalt thou serve, and to Him shalt thou cleave and swear by His name.”
(Deuteronomy 10:17-20)

We pray that we might be the face of Jesus to all whom we serve.
